Malayali poet bags international literary award

P.L. Sreedharan, a poet-lyricist working at
Calicut
University
, has bagged the International Humanist Alliance’s literary award for 2007. Mr. Sreedharan won the award for his writings “replete with thoughts of non-violence and humane feelings”.
International Humanist Alliance (IHA) chief coordinators Andy Williams and Val from announced the award the other day. The IHA is an international network of people for human development by promoting non-violence.Mr. Sreedharan’s poem titled ‘Weeping Womb mbmb’ narrating the disaster of terrorism has won the IHA appreciation.
Poems
Mr. Sreedharan has penned 700 poems 500 songs in English and Malayalam. Some of his poems such as Mayilammakku, Karuthapattu, Neelamkoodiya Chodyam and Mazhavillinodu had become topics of discussion.
He also has collections on Mappilapattu, folk songs, drama songs, short stories and plays. He was selected for the Serbian poetry meet this year.The IHA award will be given away at its annual meeting to be held in January next year.
